Ms. Meha Patel, Vice Chairperson of ZydusFoundation and the Kochi–MuzirisBiennale showcased the riveting, immersive performance of the world renowned, Marina Abramovićto audiences in India. A pioneering Serbian performance artist, Marina Abramović is globally recognised for her radical, endurance-based works that place the body, presence and audience engagement at the centre of contemporary art discourse.

Highlighting the importance of connecting art with the larger community and making it an immersive experience, Ms. Meha Patel said, “Art becomes more accessible and immersive when we reduce entry barriers through experience, context, and participation. We are very happy to collaborate with Nikhil Chopra and Kochi–MuzirisBiennale to present this enthralling experience created by Marina Abramović. The immersion comes from heightened awareness and emotional vulnerability, making the audience co-creators of the experience.”

She added, “Supporting Marina isn’t about inviting an icon from the Western world, it’s about bringing a way of thinking to India that resonates deeply with our cultural history. Marina’s performances are rooted in ritual, presence and endurance, echoing our spiritual traditions and lived cultural practices. She gives contemporary expression to ideas we already understand intuitively. Kochi is important because the Biennale makes art accessible as a shared public experience.”
